Paige normally hosts Q&A sessions for her 3.4 million Instagram followers, but after a dizzying couple of months, the Colorado native revealed how her life has changed.
“I’ve been really lucky with my career which has been a pretty steady slope, even though everyone thought I was never going to be successful,” Paige Spinarac said. “But this year has been a big change for me, and I think it’s because I’ve had this widespread attention with Maxim, beyond sports and golf, so it’s been amazing.”
Paige hit the red carpet for Maxim’s Top 100 party in Miami in a sexy outfit. But she noted that such sudden fame has had disadvantages for her, as her growing online notoriety has led to the emergence of fake accounts that try to take advantage of her image.
One such scam even prompted one of her followers to accuse the former golfer of stealing $10,000 from her.
“A man comes up to me and asks me for a picture, it’s fine at first. And then he wanted to explain how I scammed him out of $10,000 and started threatening me. It was a really scary situation,” Spinarac said on his Playing-A-Round podcast. “It turns out this guy was scammed by a fake profile that someone created and he had a fake number, he was unhinged.”
